The 2023 edition featured historical track maps of the long-gone IRT Manhattan and Bronx Els of the early-to-mid 20th Century. They're all here: Second, Third, Sixth, and Ninth Avenue Lines. All the old routes--and even their marker signal codes--are included! In addition, the never-built IND Second System tracks as envisaged in 1930, including the Second Avenue Subway and South Fourth St., plus connections to the existing IND are presented for the first time ever, along with an expanded introduction section and a table of contents.
As always, the book depicts every track (with track numbers), every yard, every station, and many diverging route home signals. The book also encompasses the latest capital improvements, signal changes and track/signal renewal projects, including the newly-reopened 42nd St. Shuttle reconfiguration. As with past editions, Grand Central, the Park Avenue tunnels, Penn Station, PATH, and the Staten Island Railway track maps are also included. Current fleet data and train service requirements have also been updated.
The book is now 189 pages in length, spiral-bound in 8 1/2 x 11" format. Note that the PDF version is intended strictly for on-screen viewing and is not printable.
SHIPPING NOTE: For customers in the United States but located outside the immediate NYC region, Priority Mail or UPS delivery is strongly recommended. While generally fine for the tri-state area, the cheaper Media Mail option can take up to three weeks to arrive, especially during November and December, and tracking information is not always reliable.
Economy shipping of the printed book is available for customers in the USA. Delivery times may be longer than Priority Mail (up to 10 days is possible), but for shipping to NYC and environs it's usually about 3 days. Note: UPS shipping is uninsured. If you choose UPS and your package is damaged in transit it will not be replaced. This is a result of a change to UPS insurance terms that excludes shipments of poly bag merchandise.

CanadaGreat book — Sub-par shipping
This is the second time I've purchased this book (last time was the 2008 edition). It's a great book—this is the first colour edition I've purchased. However, international shipping is quite expensive (I reside in Canada), and my book arrived in the mailbox curled up into a cylinder (not flat). It took several days to flatten it, using other heavier books as weights. I wish the shipped had marked it with "fragile" or "do not bend" and in a hard-sided box, which would prevent the post office stuffing it into my small mailbox. International customers pay a lot for international shipping, and on top of that, the item price and shipping is subject to our lower Canadian dollar conversion. For this much paid in local currency, I would haver expected better treatment of the item. Other than that, great book!

I'm not new to loving trains and the NYC subway. What is new was finding the videos and now this comprehensive work. My first rides were as a kid in the 50s and 60s--full imprinting and I never have a visit to the City without a subway ride or several. The book has the track maps of course but also the details, and the details of the details. Published for years but this is my first one. Just excellent.
